Clothing for Running
If you are a beginning runner, you can wear just about any workout clothes.
Running does heat you up about 10 to 30 degrees though, depending on your
particular metabolism. You would be smart to dress appropriately. Wearing
layers of runners clothes gives you the option to change on the road.
Are you looking for competition clothing for runners or work out clothing for jogging?
Competition runners clothes need to be the bare minimum. Something that doesn’t retain
sweat and moisture, and never restricts movement in any way.
Clothing for running has several purposes. The most basic is modesty. There are
parts that simply need to be covered (or you'll get arrested). Running comfortable
is another purpose. Stay warm and dry in cold or wet weather. Stay cool and dry,
running in warm weather. Of course, some folks want fashion at the same time.
Running shorts need to stay simple, and not interfere with rapid movements. Even
if it’s cold out, running shorts are kept to a bare minimum even if sweats are
worn right up to race moment. Men need more support in the shorts.
Running tops need to stay simple too. Women need more support in the top. Your legs
stay pretty warm, but the upper body needs layers.
The inner layer should fit snug and wick moisture away from your body. Coolmax®
or Lycra® are great materials for the first layer (only layer in warm weather).
Sweat makes you clammy and uncomfortable. Coolmax or Lycra dries twice as fast as
cotton and keeps you warm when it's cold and cooler when it's hot.
